The Making of A Great Personal Injury Lawyer

November 24, 2018/0 Comments/in Blog, Personal Injury /by Jeffrey R. Davis

A personal injury lawyer is a lawyer who provides legal services to those who have been damaged, physically , psychologically and financially because of the negligence of another person, company, or any entity.  A Personal Injury Lawyer represents victims of all types of accidents such as medical malpractice, dangerous products, negligent security, defective automotive tires, pharmacy errors, car accidents, motorcycle accidents, slip and falls, wrongful deaths, transportation accidents and many more. These lawyers  need to specialize in numerous types of cases because personal injury can happen anytime and for many reasons. Personal Injury Lawyers are the ones many victims turn to lean to when they or a loved one has suffered physical or emotional injury due to another’s carelessness..
While injury claims make follow a criminal act, they are made under civil law. Civil Law is a side of the  legal system that is concerned with private rights and remedies and governs disputes.. Civil law attorneys handling injury cases must be effective and competent in understanding what their client’s harms, losses and damages have caused.. They need to know the nature and the extent of their client’s injuries. Most personal Injury Lawyers have medical knowledge, which means that they are knowledgeable about the injuries they litigate—diagnostic criteria, prognosis, estimated cost, etc. This is essential to be a great personal injury lawyer because a lawyer who is informed about your personal injury is one step closer  to bringing you the results you deserve.

A good personal injury lawyer will also inform their clients of their rights and what to expect from their case. It is the job of a personal injury lawyer to completely investigate, understand and be able to explain the unique nature of their client’s case. No case is the same and each  requires different actions, efforts and steps to complete. One of the most crucial acts every personal injury lawyer has to take is collecting evidence of what happened to their client;speaking to the victim’s family members, meeting with the client’s physicians and being thorough when it comes to researching these facts. It is the attorneys’ job to gather any relevant information that will be a help to the case and coming up with a strategy for the case. Experience is necessary : you don’t want to trust your case  to someone who has no medical knowledge or experience working with personal injury claims.

Jeffrey R. Davis, P.A  have years of experience working with personal injury victims and understand the steps they have to take to make sure that their clients get the best results possible.Since 1986, Jeff Davis has been handling only these types of cases. He is familiar with the rules of  civil procedure and Evidence and understand how clients’ damages, losses and harms must be presented to meet the requirements to achieve the best results. Jeffrey R. Davis,P.A. has built a reputation as a law firm who fights for their client’s best interest in and outside of court.

The Dangers of Drinking and Driving

November 15, 2018/0 Comments/in Blog /by Jeffrey R. Davis

Every day almost 29 people die in the United States because of an impaired drunk driver. That’s one person every 50 minutes. Drinking and driving with a BAC level of 0.08 is illegal for a reason and that is because alcohol, depending on how much you drink, can dramatically impair your motor abilities. You will have some loss of judgment, muscle control, slurred speech, poor coordination, and impaired perception.  With a BAC 0.02 in your system, you will already start feeling impairment. You will have a lack of judgment, increased relaxation, slightly increased body temperature, mood swings, decreased visual functionality, and inability to multitask. The legal limit for drunk driving is at 0.08 but that does not mean that it’s safe to drive even below that. The effects you feel can still be detrimental and when you integrate that with driving, tragic events can occur and not only to the driver.

Most times, young drivers have other people with them in their vehicle. This can lead to multiple injuries and fatalities. In 2016, the total numbers of drivers killed were 18, 610 and the total number of passengers killed were 6407. For Non-occupants, close to 6000 pedestrians were killed in 2016. Accidents occur more frequently when there are more people in the car because of the distractions it tends to cause.

Drinking and driving is dangerous, and the groups most likely at risk of doing this are 16 to 20-year-olds. This age group is 10 times more likely to get involved in a fatal car accident than drivers over 21. Drinking and driving has received increasing public awareness in recent years, but it is still one of the top reasons for fatal car accidents especially involving youthful drivers.  In 2013, 28.7 million people admitted to driving under the influence of alcohol.

In 2013, a total of 1,149 children 14 and younger were killed in motor vehicle traffic crashes. Of those 1,149 fatalities, 200 (17%) occurred

in alcohol-impaired-driving crashes. Out of those 200 deaths, 121 (61%) were occupants of vehicles with drivers who had BACS of .08 or higher, and another 29 children (15%) were pedestrians or pedal-cyclists struck by drivers with BACS of .08 or higher.

Drunk Driving is risky, illegal and often deadly. The drunk driver places innocent people-passengers, pedestrians and other drivers in harm’s way. A drunk driver’s careless actions can take life and limb, cause financial ruin and result in imprisonment. With so much at stake-why ever take the chance. Don’t drink and drive, the risks are never worth it.
